Try Yahoo Groups. Search ‘crocheting’ and about 3,000 groups came up. Some of the ones I read say that they show their ongoing projects and their completed ones. A lot are chats, too.

Is there a software package available for creating an online web community with chat, forumns and blogs?
I know that there are a ton of companies that produce forums for community websites, however I haven’t seen any programs that offer all three. My big concern is buying three products and then having problems with the user names synching up. I’m curious to know, what are the top picks for doing this task. Preferably for under $ 600. I’d also be interested in any hosted products that do this. Please keep in mind that my knowledge of computer programming only consists of limited VB and using Frontpage.

well it depends on which programming language you want to use & which hosting environment you prefer. If you ok with something on .net (VB.NET/C#) then you can take a look at the open source CommunityServer which provides forums, blogs and photos online (not too sure abt the chat feature though). trivia: MSDN (MS Developer Network) blogs also run on CommunityServer. You can also try DotNetNuke, another Open Source app.
